Autumn update and Designing for anyone

October 25, 2024

How have you been? I'm doing great! I spent last weekend strolling the streets of Paris with Anna, indulging in delicious food for three days. To be honest, I'm also not minding that autumn is rapidly approaching.

I promised you this post weeks ago, but I wasn't able to finish it until just 15 minutes ago. I struggled a bit with framing it without sounding like I don't care about accessible design (I do!) while also admitting that for many designers—yours truly included—it's not always "top of mind" when designing (though it should be).

A recent article by Cat Noone changed my perspective on accessible design. Her insight? Accessible design isn't about designing for everyone; it's about designing for anyone. Simple, yet so powerful!

Alright, here's the article—let me know what you think and what you'd like me to write about next!

  1. Joey is the 🐐 of Figma. If you're not already subscribed to his newsletter, do yourself a favor and sign up now. I recently discovered this keyboard shortcut guide and I think it's already saved me hours.
  2. Dick Costolo - Conversations on Quality - I'm really enjoying this series from Linear! I have a feeling I'll be watching this one multiple times.
  3. I thoroughly enjoyed Ridd's latest episode with Teo Connor, VP of Design at Airbnb, which delves into how they're investing in design innovation.

Until next time,
